ELC in the former USSR
The English Language Center teaching plan was developed
in the United States, Maryland, due to the support of the General Conference
of SDA.
The purpose of the program is to teach English in countries where English is
not spoken, with the help of people for whom English is a native language (native
speakers). According to the teaching plan, the classes are conducted by student-volunteers
or teachers from English speaking countries like USA, Canada, Great Britain,
Australia and others. For approximately 20 years the developed teaching plan
has been successfully used in many countries, like Japan, China, Korea, Russia,
Poland, Taiwan and many others. In Ukraine ELC has been working since 1994.
There are five Centers besides ours in the territory of
the former USSR at the moment, working according to the ELC teaching plan.
